11. Domaines Ott, Château de Romassan 2024 | Bandol, France

Origin: Provence, France
Varietals: 60% Mourvèdre, 20% Cinsault, 20% Grenache
Price: $57.00
ABV: 13,5%
Domaines Ott was founded in 1912 by Alsatian engineer Marcel Ott. He bought several estates and began renovating them with the determined ambition to create great Provençal wines from noble grape varietals. These wines are made at three distinctively different estates: Château Romassan (Bandol), Clos Mireille and Château de Selle (both Côtes-de-Provence).
Château Romassan is located in the Bandol appellation and lies at the foot of the village of Le Castellet. The soil is poor, composed of limestone, sandstone, and marine upper cretaceous marls. The Bandol appellation is known for its terraced landscapes built from the hard stone with vines, which are planted into vast terraces with varying exposures. The sea air from the bay of Bandol compensates for the terroir’s acidity and low rainfall.
Mourvèdre takes center stage in this blend, a grape that finds its truest expression here, lending the wine its backbone, depth, and remarkable capacity to evolve with age. Alongside it, grenache brings a rich, wine-like intensity, while cinsault softens the composition with its natural elegance. Together, these three varietals — nurtured on sun-drenched hillsides and in the shelter of the valley floor — give rise to a rosé of rare complexity and silky, layered texture.
In the glass, the wine glows a pale peach with a whisper of rose gold. The nose draws you in effortlessly, offering a generous and alluring bouquet that invites exploration. On the palate, bright red fruits take the lead — ripe strawberries and fresh raspberries — lending the wine a vivid, mouthwatering energy. It is a thoroughly pleasurable drink, carrying its charm all the way through to a finish that is poised and perfectly balanced.

The pale, luminous hue of Planeta Rosé carries an effortless grace all its own. On the nose, delicate floral notes of hibiscus and dog rose weave through hints of wild strawberry, blackberry and melon, creating an impression of quiet, natural beauty. ABV: 13.5%
King Estate was founded in 1991 by the King family with a deep commitment to sustainable farming. 14. Domaine Carneros 2023 Avant-Garde Pinot Noir | Napa Valley, CA

Origin: Napa Valley, CA
Varietals: 100% Pinot Noir
Price: $37
ABV: 14.20%
While Domaine Carneros is well-known for its sparkling wines, it also produces Pinot Noirs, heralding the distinctive bright berry qualities of the Carneros Region. The wines are produced from fruits coming from its vineyards. Domaine Carneros was founded in 1987 by the prestigious Champagne Taittinger family.
Avant-Garde is conceived as a celebration of the vintage from its very first expression, capturing the vivid, berry-driven character that has made the Carneros region a benchmark for Pinot Noir. Fruit is drawn from all six Domaine Carneros estate vineyards, spread across the gently rolling hills of Carneros, with select lots chosen for their aromatic intensity and brightness. The wine is fermented in small, open-topped tanks to preserve its natural vitality, before spending nine months in predominantly neutral Burgundian French oak — a deliberate choice that allows the wine’s floral lift, fresh fruit, and luminous character to remain front and center.
The nose is very aromatic, leading with the bright, jewel-like freshness of pomegranate before giving way to a generous medley of sweet cherries and red currants, gently warmed by notes of oak and a touch of cinnamon. On the palate, the wine is vibrant and expressive — juicy black cherry and red raspberry take center stage, with a subtle savory hint of tobacco leaf adding intrigue and depth to the finish.
